NBA All-Star Ballot Says White Men Can't Jump?

So par usual I was doing my daily NBA all-star vote this morning (gotta put in a good word for my C's, especially Rondo). However, the "I'm not a robot" test this morning was umm... unusual at best. Trying to say something there? Well, it cracked me up anyhow!

Making progress in my sleep...

...no literally. I've been asleep for approximately three days at this point (I'm pretty sure either my body has been possessed by tiny sleep-inducing demons, or I have some sort of flu-epstein Barr, mono hybrid). However, despite this putting a bit of a dent in my waking progress on the bikes. Not only did my sticky guide (for the Lambretta) arrive par Royal Mail, but my carb rebuild kits for the cb750k came in as well.

Since there's nothing quite like new bike parts to get a girl out of bed, I figure I might as well mosey on down to the shop to ogle the new goodies, and pick out a final piece of birthday goodness for my best friend/evel kneival's birthday this Friday. The hard part now will be to stick to the one bike at a time plan now that I've got sticky in hand. However, rumor has it, courtesy of my Honda guru Tom, that the 750 is actually not that far away from a running state (not café racer running state, but running nonetheless). Oh, also, sold the bad boy, which was sad, but, at least it frees up some capital to get things rolling on the bikes. I have to say, $100 for the cb750k is kind of making me feel like I committed highway robbery. Happens to the best of us I suppose...and I guess when you trade in your cow for magic beans, some goodness is bound to come out of it.

Peace

Project Bike Goals Du Jour

  1. OK, so technically not part of the project bike, but getting rid of the "bad boy" is pretty important as no matter how much money you save on labor you still need to have some parts... I mean, hoses and cables that aren't fraying seems like a measley demand.
  2. Get my very first big kid "mechanic's tool set"... I'm debating whether or not this is a go big or go home situation or if I can save a few bones by not getting the two-hundred-some-off craftsman set from Sears... I need metric, but I'd rather pay for good tools once than pay for cheap ones over and over
  3. Well I may not be a mechanic, but my extensive sailing knowledge of Bernoulli's principle and the Venturi effect (I guess that's more from bio) seem to be coming in handy. At least I get the role of the carburetors now! Rebuild kits won't be in 'til monday but I might try some tinkering with my new tools.
  4. God willing- get out to a salvage yard and start trying to find side covers. At least I know for sure it's a 750k now, so that's a step in the right direction, but I can't help envisioning myself like Wall-E lost in a trash heap (worst comes to worst the swapmeet tomorrow might be more my speed).

Wish me luck... or skill, that would be even better.

Amazing Honda CB750 Poster

Where does one begin?

Café Racer Posters

So other than the fact that I keep on ending up reading bible passages, this site (the one linked through the title to this posting) is super helpful for, well- someone like me. The woman who sold me the Honda CB750 found the carbs, and they were actually fully intact- obviously ordered four carb restoration kits ($125 bones or so), but it'll be food to have something where there's repetition involved (or so I hope).

Minor problem (or major, I don't really know) I suddenly can't remember/figure out if the bike is a 750k or a 750f (we know it's 1980 for sure, but the title doesn't give much more info, and not having side covers is no big help). I'm thinking it's an F, since that's what I thought it was to begin with- but other than the exhaust pipes I'm having trouble telling the difference, and it seems like exhaust is one of the first things people mod on this bike...

So yeah. Minor road block- I forgot what my bike is. No big.

Not so easy to tell now is it... Wait. Don't answer that.
